We are currently attempting to schedule a translation awareness workshop at Awar. This is the last group at which we will hold a workshop so we want to get this done soon. The village leaders are concerned by the fact that the young people do not seem to be learning the vernacular, relying on Melanesian Pidgin instead. The leadership is looking at the Bible translation program as one means by which they can reverse this trend. While that is a good reason, we hope that the awareness workshop will give them a broader vision for Bible translation and how it can benefit the spiritual life of the people.

Prayer Points

• Pray for those who attended the writers workshop that they would spread the vision for vernacular literacy and for Bible translation..
• Pray that gifted individuals can be found who will serve as translators and literacy people.
• Two of the village leaders are Rueben and Paul. Please pray that God will especially touch their hearts with a desire to have the scriptures in their language.
• Pray that the Awar people will catch a vision for Bible translation and that God will create hunger for His word among them.
